BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University volleyball (12-7, 2-5 C-USA) goes back on the road this weekend for a pair of road matches beginning with LA Tech (9-13, 2-5 C-USA) on Oct. 21 for a 7 p.m. first serve inside Thomas Assembly Center.
- FAU enters the weekend 12-7 overall and 2-5 in C-USA play.
- The Owls are just coming off a tough 3-0 loss against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders this past Friday.
- Head coach Fernanda Nelson is in her 11th season as the Owls' leader and has accumulated a 151-133 (.532) record during her time in Boca Raton.
- Offensively, the Owls are led by sophomores Valeria Rosado, Katelynn Robine, and Klara Zarnovicka, posting 3.43, 2.92, and 2.55 kills per set each, respectively, this season. Rosado's team-leading kills per set rank her sixth in Conference USA.
- On the backrow, the Owls are led by senior Camryn Vogler, who averages 3.60 digs per set, while Rosado has tallied a team second-best 2.53 digs per set in 2022.
- Junior Alicia Hearn and Senior Lauryn Green are the Owls blocking leaders this season, averaging 0.84 and 0.83 blocks per set, respectively.
- The Owls fell in a 3-0 battle against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders this past Friday.
- LA Tech enters Friday's contest with a 9-13 overall record and sit even with the Owls at 2-5 in C-USA play
- Head coach Amber McCray is in her fourth season leading the Lady Techsters and has collected a 32-66 (.327) record during her time in Ruston.
- As a team, the Lady Techsters lead the conference in total attacks with 2,860 and team attacks per set, averaging 35.75 this season.
- On the attack, the Lady Techsters are led by Andrea Spasojevic, Sydney Jackwin, and Ashley Taylor, averaging 2.78, 2.26, and 2.11 kills per set, respectively.
- Ashley Jones has averaged a team-leading 7.22 assists per set, leading LA Tech to a .177 team attack percentage.
- McKenzie Johnson anchors the Lady Techsters backline, averaging 4.04 digs per set, while LA Tech is led at the net by Taylor and Morgan Smith, averaging 0.93 and 0.83 blocks per set this season, respectively.
FAU leads the all-time series 7-1 against the LA Tech Lady Techsters. The Owls hold a perfect 4-0 record for contests played in Ruston and have won the last seven meetings between the two programs, dating back to Nov. 8, 2013. The last meeting between the Owls and the Lady Techsters saw FAU earn a 3-0 sweep over LA Tech on Oct. 4, 2019, in Ruston.
The Owls will close out their road trip on Sunday as they head to Birmingham, Alabama on Oct. 23 to take on the UAB Blazers for their first rematch of the 2022 season.
