BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University volleyball (12-6, 2-4 C-USA) hosts the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (12-6, 1-3 C-USA) for the Owls sole match of the weekend at FAU Arena on Friday evening. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
- The Owls enter Friday's matchup at 12-6 overall and 2-4 in C-USA play.
- Head coach Fernanda Nelson is in her 11th season leading the Owls and has amassed a 151-132 record throughout her time in Boca Raton, earning her 150th career win last weekend on the road against Charlotte.
- On the attack, FAU is led by sophomores Valeria Rosado, Katelynn Robine, and Klara Zarnovicka, posting 3.52, 2.96, and 2.53 kills per set each, respectively, this season. Rosado's team-leading kills per set also ranks her sixth in Conference USA.
- Setters Noelle Stephens and MiaBella English have led the Owls in assists this season, averaging 8.92 and 3.24 assists per set, respectively, while also helping lead the Owls to a .234 attack percentage as a team this season.
- Senior Camryn Vogler anchors the Owls' backline, averaging 3.65 digs per set, while Rosado has tallied a team second-best 2.58 digs per set in 2022.
- Senior Lauryn Green, junior Alicia Hearn, and Zarnovicka have been FAU's leaders at the net this season, recording 0.84, 0.80, and 0.66 blocks per set each, respectively.
- FAU picked up its first two conference wins of the season this past weekend, earning a pair of five-set victories over Charlotte and UAB.
- Middle Tennessee boasts a 12-6 overall record and a 1-3 mark in C-USA play so far this season.
- Head coach Chuck Crawford is in his 6th year leading the Blue Raiders and has collected a 53-90 record throughout his time in Murfreesboro.
- The Blue Raiders are led by Adri Rhoda and Kayla Henley on the attack. Rhoda paces the team with 2.92 kills per set, ranking 12th in C-USA, and hitting .247, while Henley has produced a team second-best 2.31 kills per set with a .272 hitting percentage. Rhoda also ranks first in the conference for service aces per set, averaging 0.69. Setter Taylor Eisert averages 9.70 assists per set and has directed the Blue Raider offense to a .248 team attacking percentage. Defensively, the Blue Raiders are anchored by libero Marley Banton, who leads the team with 4.09 digs per set. At the net, Kaylee Oscarson and Dasia Smith lead the Blue Raiders in blocks, registering 0.96 and 0.88 per set, respectively.
Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series between the Blue Raiders and the Owls, 17-11. However, FAU has been more successful in the series as of late, winning nine of the last 10 meetings between the two programs, including a five-set win during the last meeting on Oct. 31, 2021.
The Owls return to the court on Friday, Oct. 21 as FAU heads to Ruston, Louisiana to face the LA Tech Lady Techsters for a 7 p.m. first serve inside the Thomas Assembly Center.
