BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team (9-6, 1-1) will travel north to Charlotte to take on the 49ers (7-7, 0-2) for back-to-back matches on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1-2. The Owls earned a split last weekend versus Old Dominion and will try for a pair of wins against a 49ers squad that has lost four straight matches.
Christine Jarman led the Owls in kills in both matches over the weekend and consistently came through when her team needed a big play. She continues to be a major factor in nearly all of FAU's wins.
FAU has used the rocket arms of Jarman, her frontline teammates Klara Zarnovicka and Katelynn Robine to great effect this year. The Owls are ranked 18th in the nation (2nd in C-USA) in total team kills.
Devastating frontline power has been FAU's calling card this season with the big hitters constantly taking full swings. The Owls allow just 11.78 digs per set this year to their opponents, which ranks first in C-USA.
Transfer middle blocker Lauryn Green hit an eye-popping .490 and averaged four blocks per match over the last three contests. Green's .392 total hitting percentage on the season ranks third in Conference USA.
Middle blocker Aniya Harvey stymied attackers for 10 blocks in the ODU series, the most for any Owls player over a two-game span this season. Harvey has set or equalled her career high in blocks with six in three different matches this year and currently leads the team with 0.94 blocks per set.
FAU vs. Charlotte – The Owls have owned the all-time series between the two squads with a 14-4 record, during which all 14 wins came in succession from 1998-2019. The 49ers won the two most recent contests however, back-to-back 3-1 victories in Boca back in March.
