BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University's football team held their first scrimmage of the 2021 fall Saturday night, and did so under the lights of FAU Stadium and on Howard Schnellenberger Field.
The Owls went through the paces of a controlled scrimmage allowing each of the quarterbacks to see time under center in various situations, with various units and versus various defensive units. All was done with an eye on finding the best 11 to put on the field on both sides of the ball at any given time.
Selected Sideline Celebrations
The defense forced the offense to punt in each of the first two drives
Johnny Ford gave the Owls' offense their first celebration with a 53-yard touchdown run
Antarius Moultrie had a lot to celebrate on Saturday, including stopping a runner at the line of scrimmage, and his defensive teammates prevented a would-be two-point conversion
Kelvin Dean, Jr. was a part of a long drive, including four consecutive runs of 45, 10, 10 and eight yards
The scrimmage, like everything the Owls have done in camp, was laid out in a competitive format and scoring system. The offense held a 24-16 lead at the "half," saw that lead evaporate and trailed the defense well into the second half, but then came away with a 69-54 win
