BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University's
Radka Buzkova and
Katerina Filip have been named to the All-Conference USA Second Team, as announced by C-USA on Monday.
Buzkova returned to the Owls after a shortened freshman season due to COVID-19. She posted a 7-2 record on the year, including three wins at the 2021 C-USA Championships playing No. 4. She won all in straight sets and was a member of the No. 1 doubles team that won two championship matches (and was also up 5-4 in her third match before it was called, due to the match being clinched).
Filip joined the Owls in January and was integrated into a team that returned six players. She opened her collegiate FAU career at No. 4 versus a top-25 ranked Miami squad, dropping that match in three sets. In her final match, prior to the C-USA championships, she defeated her No. 23 Miami opponent 7-5, 5-6, 1-0 (10-7). At the C-USA Championship, she was leading in her first two matches and tied in her third prior to each being stopped due to the matches being clinched. She finished the year with a 6-5 singles record and a 6-9 doubles mark. Four of her five singles losses came at the hands of ranked teams.
The 2021 season has come to a close. Many of the players will return home and continue to play in summer tournaments. Three players –
Natalia Boltinskaya,
Natalie Kallmunzerova and
Louie McLelland – have graduated and will begin their next journey. To follow the team socially, visit @fauwtennis or for the most up-to-date information go to
