BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University's
Enrique Dimayuga will begin the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Monday, hoping to become the first Owl to reach an NCAA Championship.
"I feel like Enrique is incredibly prepared to go out and have an unbelievable week," FAU coach
Ryan Jamison said. "That being said, the goal is to stay shot to shot and just enjoy the experience. He has already accomplished so much this season and getting to a national championship would be the icing on the cake. It's certainly not easy but I know he will give it his best. Go Owls!"
A
first-team All-Conference USA selection, Dimayuga will compete alongside 14 teams and four individuals at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club. Dimayuga must finish as the highest-ranked player not on an advancing team to make the NCAA Championship
A trip to Scottsdale, Arizona's Grayhawk Golf Club for the NCAA Championship would be historic for Dimayuga and FAU golf. Only once before did an FAU player make an NCAA postseason event, Kelly McHugh, and the furthest he reached was the 2009 NCAA South Regional in Orlando.
Dimayuga - who led the Owls with a eight par-or-better rounds and recorded the best stroke average in team history, a 71.67 - will begin the three-day, 54-hole Tallahassee Regional on Monday. Live stats are available
