BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team capped off the regular season with a three-match winning streak after Friday night's 3-0 victory over FIU. The Owls clinched the No. 2 seed in the Conference USA East Division, as WKU defeated Charlotte to earn the top seed.

With a makeup game still to go in league play tomorrow, stay tuned to see who FAU will play in the C-USA Championship next week, beginning Tuesday in Houston.
The Beginning / The Turning Point:
It took just 4:36 for the Owls (5-3-2, 4-1-1 C-USA) to take the lead, on a Gi Krstec cross to Thelma Hermannsdottir. About 20 minutes later, Krstec broke away from the FIU (3-9-0, 1-5-0 C-USA) defense for her first goal of the season, off a through ball from Hailey Landrus, for a 2-0 lead.
 The Finish:
The cherry on top came with less than 10 minutes left, when Molly Setsma scored her first career goal, off an assist from the returning Luisa Daikeler. The Owls' defense faced just two shots in the match, and none in the second half, to earn the victory.
 Notables:
Hermannsdottir's goal was her second of the season
Krstec earned her second assist this year in addition to her first goal, Landrus' assist was her first, and again, Setsma notched the first score of her young Owl career
FAU was able to go deeper into the bench than normal, with more players available. All told, 19 Owls saw the field, and just goalkeeper Amit Cohen, defenders Amanda Martin and Amber Tam and midfielder Emma Grissom played the entirety
Quotable:
"Well this game is never easy, and hasn't been in years past," said head coach Patrick Baker. "Probably the best start we've had in an FAU-FIU game. Just thought we got some great momentum early and scored a wonderful first goal. Gi played the ball in to Thelma, and ended up finishing first time. And then, not that long after, Gi took it upon herself to score a great individual goal off a great run. Really happy for her, the production, the execution and refinement that we've talked about."
