BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country teams were tabbed to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, as announced by the organization. Teams must earn a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher to receive the award.
"A huge congratulations to both our women's and men's cross country teams for being named to the All-Academic Teams once again," said head coach
Alex Smolka. "The fact the word 'student' comes before the word 'athlete' is 100% correct when it comes to our team members. As happy as we are about our growing athletic success, nothing will replace the joy of seeing our students succeed academically. Well done to everyone. Go Owls!"
On the women's side, the team earned a 3.467 GPA. Twelve different Owls made the FAU Academic Team for posting higher than a 3.0 GPA, while
Madlen Kappeler was recognized to the Dean's and President's lists. The Owls are one of nine teams in C-USA and one of 255 women's DI teams who were honored with the award.
The men's team was named to the All-Academic Team following a fall semester having tallied a 3.283 GPA. Four Owls received a 3.0 or higher and a spot on the FAU All-Academic Team. The squad is one of seven men's teams from C-USA and one of 220 squads nationally to receive All-Academic honors.
