FAU Drops DH to JU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Playing its second doubleheader in as many days, the Florida Atlantic University softball team dropped both games to host Jacksonville University on Thursday. The Owls (12-31) fell 2-0 in game one and 8-0 in game two.
Donnie Gobourne started the game for FAU and while JU (24-16) threatened in both the first and second innings, it was two runs, both earned, in the third that decided the game. Gobourne was replaced by Abigail Morgan, who pitched the final three scoreless innings, scattered two hits and struck out one. The Owls would threaten as well but were held scoreless and tallied just three hits.
Game 2
Morgan started the second game and worked three innings for the Owls. She surrendered a solo homer to center and a two-out, two-run double down the rightfield line, which tagged the hurler with three runs, all earned. She gave way to Kara Lokeinsky who tossed the final two innings. Lokeinsky gave up seven hits, five runs, four of which were earned. The Owls would threaten, but the elusive key hit, with runners on, never came.
"If I was looking for a positive about today's game, it would be the valuable experience that the young kids gained," said Joan Joyce, FAU's head coach. "Both yesterday and today we played all of the younger players and they responded well."
