Mykhailenko Earns Second C-USA Offensive Player of the Week Award this Season

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team is coming off its first winning season since 2007 and Ivan Mykhailenko had a lot to do with that. The striker was awarded the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday following a 2-1 win over UAB. This marks Mykhailenko's second Player of the Week honor this season, third in his career.

Mykhailenko registered his second multi-goal performance of the season, tallying two goals for four points over UAB to be the weekend's highest point scorer in the league. The striker's first goal came off a header at the 26th minute to tie the game, and his second was delivered at the 37th minute off a penalty kick. His game-winning goal was his third of the season, sixth in his career, which is fourth in school history.

In the C-USA ranks, Mykhailenko finished the regular season second in goals per game (0.6), as well as third in shots per game (3) and points (12). The Kyiv, Ukraine native five goals in C-USA was tied for the league's most to win the conference's Golden Boot award.

Mykhailenko, who has three career weekly awards, is the first player in the Owls' days of belonging to C-USA to win more than one Offensive Player of the Week awards in one season. He is the first offensive player since Kristoffer Aarskog in 2003 to win more than one award in one season.

The Owls have closed out the 2021 spring campaign, one of the most memorable seasons in program history. FAU will look to build on the momentum going into the fall season, set to commence in just a few short months.
