BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team puts a five-game winning streak, and a 4-0 record in Conference USA play, on the line on the road this weekend. The Owls take on Charlotte for a four-game set at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium.
Note: Game times have been adjusted since FAU's schedule announcement. Friday will be at 4 p.m., the Saturday doubleheader begins at 1 p.m., and Sunday will also start at 1 p.m.
Owls' Midweek in Review
The Owls (15-9, 4-0 C-USA) trailed 8-0 after FGCU's first two innings at bat, but made that deficit up in the fourth, plus another in the sixth, to win on the road, 13-11. Victor Castillo hit FAU's fourth grand slam of the season as part of a career-high five-RBI night. The Owls had 27 baserunners on base in total on the night.
Owls' Weekend in Preview
Charlotte (14-9, 3-1 C-USA) took the first three game of its opening weekend league series, then WKU won the finale, 17-16, in 10 innings. Austin Knight is C-USA's leading hitter, at .400 even, and has a conference-high 36 hits and 15 doubles as well. The 49ers also feature the league's top power hitter, David McCabe, with eight home runs. The team's Friday night starter, Bryce McGowan, is 3-2 with a 1.54 ERA (second in C-USA) and .154 batting average against, the league's best.

FAU has a 16-4 all-time advantage over the 49ers, with a six-game winning streak most recently, on two successive three-game sweeps (the last, in 2019, taking place in Charlotte). The Owls have won nine of the last 10 overall in the series.
