BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University softball (5-18) will face FIU for the second time in 2021 when they travel to Miami for a 3 p.m. Sunday contest. FAU fell 7-5 in the two team's first meeting (Feb. 12, 2021) in a non-conference game, as part of a season opening tournament hosted by FIU.
Following Sunday's game, FAU will have nine days off. The Owls will return to the field for a Conference USA doubleheader against the Panthers on April 1, and will complete the four-game series the following day. The three April games will be played at FAU.
In the previous meeting,
Kaitlyn Burke led FAU with two (2-for-4) of the team's 10 hits. Pitcher
Lynn Gardner was 1-for-3 and helped her efforts by driving in two runs. Burke, Gardner and
Sara Berthiaume each recorded a double while
Riley Ennis had the team's first homer of the year. Gardner tossed 4.1 innings and took the loss.
