BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team will take on USF, beginning Friday night, playing the Bulls in a three-game weekend set for the first time since 1994.
Owls' Midweek in Review
The Owls (9-6) finished up the season series with another in-state foe on Tuesday, playing UCF for the fourth and final time. The Knights won with five runs in the eighth, 8-3. All but six of FAU's games this year have come against fellow Florida foes, with the Owls going 5-4 in those nine contests.
Owls' Weekend in Preview
USF (7-7) is in the midst of a four-game losing streak, a sweep by FGCU last weekend, and a 14-12 midweek loss to Stetson Tuesday. All 14 of the Bulls' games this year thus far have come against opposition from the Sunshine State. Three USF hitters are over .350 on the season – towards the team's average of .311, 19th in Division I – led by Carmine Lane at .385. Drew Butcher, who is hitting .356, has seven home runs and 14 RBI.

Opponent History
FAU and USF have only played two games against one another in the last decade, splitting two games in the 2015 Gainesville Regional (the most recent result an 8-4 FAU win on May 31). The last regular season matchup was in
John McCormack's first year as head coach, in Tampa, with USF winning 2-1 on April 1, 2009.
The teams played midweeks in 1995 and 1997, and a Saturday/Sunday two-game set in 1996. The last (and only) weekend three-game set was Feb. 25-27, 1994, in Tampa, a three-game USF sweep. The Bulls lead the all-time series, 12-2.
