PALM DESERT, Calif. – Florida Atlantic University men's golf surged to an eighth-place finish at the Desert Intercollegiate, improving four spots in Sunday's final round. The Owls shaved 13 strokes off their consecutive 295s from the first two rounds by posting a 282 in the third.

"We are in good spirits after a great final round today," FAU coach Ryan Jamison said. "We really struggled the first two days as a whole and today we started to feel some positive momentum for our upcoming events. We have a lot of talent on this team and we will keep getting better everyday. We can't wait to compete in the next few events and do the best to prepare to win. We continue to be appreciative of these opportunities."

A dominant round from Enrique Dimayuga helped the Owls finish as strong as they did. Dimayuga shot a six-under 66 in Round Three, a full three strokes better than his previous career low of 69. In a field of over 100, Dimayuga tied for sixth to match his career-best finish.

"Enrique is capable of weeks like this every week," Jamison said. "He is a super talented player and he really carried us this week. I'm so excited for him because I believe this is just the start of things to come."

Evan Thompson, in his FAU debut, was equally impressive. The Florida Tech transfer tied for 13^th with a three-round 215, but his scores didn't count toward the Owls' team total because he competed as an individual.

FAU will next appear at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas. SMU is hosting the tournament at the Trinity Forest Country Club from March 7-9.
