Men’s Swimming & Diving Geared Up for CCSA Championships

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's swimming & diving team is all set and ready to compete at the 2021 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Swimming & Diving Championships this weekend hosted at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. This marks the first meet of the season for the swim team, while the divers have had three tune-ups before the big conference meet.
See full weekend schedule here. The schedule is subject to change, as it has on Friday, in which all warmup lanes in the competition and warmup pool are available for swimmers at noon, diving prelims commence at 1 p.m. and finals begin at 5:30 p.m. Awards will be presented following each event.
The women's team will head to the Conference USA Championships next weekend, Feb. 25-27, with the meet hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

Last Year at CCSA Championships
- The team finished in third place out of seven teams at the 2020 CCSA Championships after capturing 651.5 points
- Logan Downey defended his title on the 1-meter with a lifetime best score of 381.55, while earning the silver medal on the 3-meter (372.65). He earned the CCSA Most Outstanding Male Diver of the Meet and later was tabbed the CCSA Diver of the Year
- The 800 free relay team, which consists of returners Rateb Hussein, Clay Riemenschneider and Josh Fountain tallied the bronze medal with a time of 6:33.45
- Fountain also earned a silver medal in the 500 free (4:27.78), while Riemenschneider followed right behind with the bronze (4:27.92)
- Hussein finished with silver medals in the 100 fly (47.58) and 200 fly (1:47.49), rebroke the FAU freshman record in the 50 free (20.28) and contributed to bronze medals in the 200 free relay (1:21.38) and 400 free relay (2:59.95)
- The 400 medley relay team, which consisted of returners Kyle Douglas, Quinn LaCoursiere and Hussein broke the school record with a bronze finish (3:14.36)
- Bronze medals were also achieved by Will Smith in the 1650 free (15:33.73), Douglas in the 200 back (1:46.47) and Adan Diaz in the 200 breast (1:59.62)
