Coello Camarero, Mykhailenko Chosen to C-USA Preseason Team

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team had two players tabbed to the Conference USA Preseason Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday. Alonso Coello Camarero and Ivan Mykhailenko make up two spots of the 11-person team. FAU was also picked to finish fifth in the league.

Coello Camarero has made his presence known in the league during his first two seasons. The midfielder was named to the C-USA First Team last season, a first for the Owls since the program joined the league in 2013. Coello Camarero was pivotal in FAU's season on both sides of the ball. Following his rookie year, the Madrid, Spain native was a C-USA Third Team and All-Freshman Team choice after a season where he lead the team in assists.

Mykhailenko is coming off a successful first season at FAU. The Kyiv, Ukraine product led the team in goals (seven), points (17), game-winning goals (three) and shots (34) last season. Mykhailenko was tabbed to the C-USA Second Team after ranking third in goals and game-winning goals, as well as third in goals per game (0.44) in C-USA. The striker was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week once, and scored two game-winning goals against No. 17 James Madison and No. 15 Marshall.

FAU was selected to round out the conference in fifth place after finishing in that position last season. Marshall, the reigning C-USA Champions, is projected to repeat as league championships. Both the preseason team and poll are voted on by the league's head coaches.
