BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team (2-6, 0-4 Conference USA) is searching for its first C-USA win of the season, as they face FIU (5-5, 2-2 C-USA) this weekend. FAU will commence the series against FIU at Abessinio Court at FAU Arena at 5 p.m. on Friday and close out the weekend set on Saturday in Miami for a 4 p.m. tip.

- FAU will play for its first Conference USA win on Friday to open the home-and-away series against in-state rival FIU. The Owls have dropped the first four C-USA tilts
- Head coach Jim Jabir is in his fourth season at the helm with his 2020-21 team being made up of one redshirt freshman, eight sophomores, six juniors, one senior and one graduate student
- Iggy Allen leads the team in each of the following categories: scoring (20.6 PPG), rebounding (9.9 RPG), assists (3.1 APG) and steals (2.8 SPG). She is also leading the conference in steals per game
- Rita Pleskevich also averages double digits in scoring with 11.2 points per game
- Janeta Rozentale leads the team with seven blocks

- The FAU and FIU series is one of the richest in program history, with Friday's meeting marking the 48th game of the series and Saturday's being the 49th
- The Owls are 14-33 against the Panthers in the all-time series, but are 8-4 in the last 12 games
- FAU swept FIU in last season's two games. In the first meeting, the Owls pulled out an overtime victory, 64-61, on the road to help Jabir capture his 500th career victory. Glenisha Harkless tallied a season-high 12 points in the win, which was a first for the Owls in Miami since 2016. The Owls took down the Panthers in the second game played in Boca Raton, 54-42
- The Owls are 8-15 against the Panthers at home, 5-18 on the road and 1-0 at a neutral site

- FIU was chosen to finish 14th in C-USA, as determined by the league's head coaches. The Panthers have so far exceeded the league's expectations under first-year head coach Jesyka Burks-Wiley
- Kyla Nelson leads the way with 15.4 points and 1.4 steals per game, while averaging 5.0 rebounds per game
- Jiselle Thomas averages 14.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while having a team-high 30 assists
- Emerald Ekpiteta puts up double-double numbers with 12.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, the latter of which ranks 20th in the nation
- FIU has the second best scoring offense in the conference, putting up 78.4 points per game

- The Owls could not hold onto a late fourth quarter lead in the second game of the Old Dominion series, falling to the Monarchs, 77-72
- Four Owls scored in double digits, which was the fourth time this season FAU has had 4+ players in double figures
- Allen scored 16 points, pulled down five rebounds, came up with a career-high six steals and added four assists
- Amber Gaston matched Allen for a team-high 16 points, which was a season high for the junior. She also pulled down a season-high seven boards and tallied two blocks
- For the third consecutive game, Pleskevich scored in double figures. The guard logged 15 points and four boards
- Alexa Zaph missed majority of the first half due to injury, but was still able to manage 13 points and four assists
