BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball team (1-3) fell to Purdue (5-0) by a score of 9-0 on Sunday afternoon. FAU was outhit 11-7 by the Boilermakers in the final game of the 2020 FAU First Pitch Classic.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning where Purdue capitalized with two runs to pull ahead. The Owls would then go through the order in the third and fourth with the score still at 2-0 in favor of Purdue. The Boilermakers would then tack on three runs in the top of the fifth and later four in the seventh, as the Owls dropped the game 9-0.
- Jolie Duffner played designated player on Sunday afternoon, finishing the day 2-3
- Fayth Davis went 2-3 at the plate along with nine putouts at first base. Davis and Duffner each finished the weekend batting .300
- Maya Amm tallied her first hit of the season
- Freshman Ashlee Patterson picked up her first career hit
- Claire Blount pitched 4.2 innings and tallied four strikeouts
