ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball opened the weekend with a 4-1 victory over Penn State at the UCF Knight Classic on Friday. The Owls tallied just three hits to the Nittany Lions four, but FAU capitalized on three Penn State errors to record the win.

The Owls (2-3) struck first with a second inning double by
Fayth Davis. Davis was then driven in by third baseman
Myah Murray. The Nittany Lions (3-4) tied the game at one, the following inning, and it remained 1-1 until the bottom of the sixth.
Jolie Duffner drove in the game-winning run with an RBI single. The Owls built a 4-1 lead by capitalizing on a Penn State error late in the sixth to give starting pitcher
Lynn Gardner a cushion to work with in the seventh.

The Owls will take part in day two of the UCF Knight Classic on Saturday, beginning the day by facing Villanova at 9 a.m. and then have a rematch versus Penn State at 11 a.m.
