John McCormack, the Owls (3-0) have won opening weekend, making it an even dozen with this most recent sweep of Delaware. In all 21 innings at the plate against the Blue Hens, at least one Owl reached base, towards a total team on-base percentage of .496 (sixth best in the nation), to go along with a batting average of .352. Every Owl that had an at-bat recorded at least one hit in the series, with nine currently batting .300 or higher.
Owls' Midweek in Preview
FGCU (0-3) began the season by traveling to New Orleans, falling in all three matchups to Tulane, by scores of 4-3, 8-4 and 6-1. Last season, the Eagles finished 34-21, winning the Atlantic Sun regular season title with a 16-7 mark. Coaches picked the squad second in the 2020 ASUN preseason poll, behind tournament champ Liberty, with four Eagles meriting All-Conference nods: starting pitcher Mason Studstill, catcher Alex Brait, third baseman Richie Garcia and designated hitter Joe Kinker.
