ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball team (2-5) went 0-2 on the second of three days at the UCF Knights Classic. FAU looked to continue their momentum from the night before, but the early morning game got the best of the Owls with a 5-0 loss to Villanova. FAU slowly started to bounce back, but still fell short of Penn State in the second game, 3-0.

How It Was Decided

Game 1 vs. Villanova:
It was either team's game until the bottom of the third when the Wildcats hit back-to-back home runs to take on a 2-0 lead. In the following inning Villanova increased their lead to 4-0 making a big margin for FAU to come back from. Later in the bottom of the sixth, the Wildcats put the final run across with a homer to end the game for the Owls with a 5-0 loss. The Owls were unable to manage a hit off of Villanova's Paige Rauch.

Game 2 vs. Penn State:
The Nittany Lions got the game rolling scoring in the first inning by taking an early 1-0 lead. The Owls got the first hit of the day on in the bottom of the second with a single up the middle from Myah Murray, but were unable to push a run across. Penn State singled up the middle allowing the Nittany Lions to increase their lead, 2-0. Multiple Owls ended with hits in the contest but no runs came across for FAU as Penn State hit a solo shot for an insurance run in the top of the sixth. The seventh inning started to click for the Owls as the defense turned a double play to close out the top of the inning. With one last chance for FAU, Sommer Baker doubled to left field and Ashleigh Jennings singled, but both were stranded, as the Owls fell, 3-0.

Relief pitcher Abigail Morgan tossed three innings, while striking out four against Penn State
