The Owls are riding a high from the opportunity to play five games in a row, with the team's only loss coming at the hands of a top-15 team, while this will be just the third game for the Minutemen.
Much of FAU's momentum feeds off the recent success of redshirt freshman quarterback Javion Posey, and a defense ranked No. 20 nationally. Posey, who rushed into the record books with a school and Conference USA quarterback rushing record of 182 yards, is expected to be under center. Leading the defense is a trio of sack artists in Jaylen Joyner (R-So.), Leighton McCarthy (R-Sr.) and Chris Jones (Fr.). Today, Joyner was named to the Ted Hendricks Watch List, awarded to the nation's top defensive end. Joyner has six TFLs on the season, all sacks.
While the game, which will be the first meeting between the two schools, will air on CBS Sports Network, it also can be heard on Fox Sports South Florida 640 AM.
This week's Owls' Burrow, host and producer Frank Forte will go 1-on-1 with head coach Willie Taggart. The duo will review last week's Shula Bowl win and will look forward to this week's UMass game. Plus, the show will be an opportunity to get to know Michael Irvin II in "Pads Off" and Forte will feature this season's leading receiver TJ Chase, a graduate student. The 20th season moment will be a look back at Rusty Smith's record-setting career, becoming the first FAU player taken in the NFL Draft. The show is scheduled to air Thursday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 20 at 11:30 a.m.
