BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Florida Atlantic University women's track & field team wrapped up their second of two meets at UAB with the Vulcan Invitational. The Owls opened up the indoor season on the right foot adding six more top-10 finishes after Saturday's performance.
"We had a very solid opening weekend compared to last year," said head coach Alex Smolka. "At this time, we are certainly excited about where we are. The first meet of the season is always a little bit unpredictable, but we feel really good about how the weekend went and are excited about the rest of the season!"

Quick Hits
- The Owls 4x400-meter relay team of Lyric Schmalz, Searra Woods, Roshelle Francois and Anne-Catherine Wasser tallied second place with a time of 3:55.94 to highlight a successful opening weekend
- Brooke Butterfield racked up third place in the 800-meter run (2:20.79)
- The day commenced with Anne-Catherine Wasser capturing fourth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.78. Roshelle Francois followed (25.78)
- Schmalz advanced to the finals in the 60 meter hurdles to capture eighth place (9.24)
- Mikaela Jonsson completed the 1-mile run in 5:20.16 for eighth place. She was followed by Morgan Sharp, who finished in 12th with a personal record time of 5:28.58. Jordan Stevens (5:40.08) and Alexis Hill (5:41.06) crossed the line at 21st and 22nd, respectively
- Lauren Macon added to her successful weekend with a 10th place showing in the 3000-meter run (10:52.44) and a new personal record
- Renee Shaw completed the 200 meter dash in 26.58 for 16th place. Searra Woods took 22nd (27.00)
