BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Florida Atlantic University women's track & field team took part in the first meet of the indoor season at the Blazer Invitational hosted by UAB. The Owls had nine top-10 finishes on the evening, including a school record gathered by senior
Anne-Catherine Wasser in the 600-meter run.

"We had a solid opening day of the season," said head coach
Alex Smolka. "Anytime we can have people set PR's and break into our FAU all-time top 15 list, it is a good day. We have people who are not happy, some who are satisfied and others who are all smiles! Overall, we are ready for tomorrow and the next few meets!"

- Wasser broke the school record in the 600-meter run. Her time of 1:34.76 also helped her rack up her first individual top finish of the season
- The day commenced with a sweep in the 5000-meter run. Lauren Macon crossed the line first with a personal record time of 19:02.91. The sophomore was followed by Morgan Sharp in second (19:14.69) and Alexis Hill in third (19:51.89)
- Lyric Schmalz advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles to tally fourth place with a time 8.71. Her time marks the third fastest in school history
- Madlen Kappeler had a successful first indoor race, coming in the 3000-meter run with a fourth place showing (10:15.98). She etched her name once again into the school record book with the ninth fastest time in the program
- Cara Simpson documented a seventh place finish in the triple jump with 11.61m. Her finish also puts her at third of all time at FAU
- In the 1000-meter run, Mikaela Jonsson raced her way to seventh place (2:59.14)
- Searra Woods took eighth in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:18.89. Kendall Kirkland finished the race in 17th (1:24.86), while Vershae Quinn followed in 22nd (1:27.84)
- Simpson also recorded 13th in the long jump finals (5.31m). Linsey Moorer came in 27th (4.59m)
- Roshelle Francois finished 25th in the 300-meter dash (41.13), which marked a personal record. Lyric Schmalz took 30th (41.94)
