BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team (2-1-0) looks to continue its winning ways on Saturday against FIU (3-0-1) at FAU Soccer Stadium in the Conference USA opener for the Owls. First touch is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free.
About The Owls
Newcomer Ivan Mykhailenko has come in and made an impact with the Owls right away. After three matches, Mykhailenko has contributed to every goal scored by FAU, scoring two of them himself and assisting on the other. He leads the team in points (5), goals (2) and is tied for the lead in shots (4).
Andres Macias leads the team in assists with two and Edgardo Obregon is tied with Mykhailenk in shots (4). The Owls have played two keepers in goal this season. Hagay Jalon has played two games and has a 1.50 goals against average with nine saves. Daniel Ragoo has played in one game, posting a 1.00 goals against average with three saves.
With a 2-1-0 record through the first three matches, the Owls are off to their best start since the 2013 season. FAU started out the 2019 season with a win against then-No. 17 James Madison to start 1-0 for the first time since the 2011 season. The 1-0 victory was also the first shutout in a season opener since the 2002 season.

The Panthers are off to a hot start in 2019 with a 3-0-1 record and are currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll. FIU has outscored its opponent 13-6 through four matches.
Stephen Afrifa leads the Panthers with three goals this season and 10 different FIU players have scored in 2019. Daniel Gagliardi has played all four matches in-goal for the Panthers and has posted a 1.42 goals against average.
