Volleyball Announces 2019 Schedule

Full 2019 Volleyball Schedule
BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University athletics department has released the volleyball team's 2019 schedule. The Owls' slate features 17 regular season matches in the state of Florida, including two home tournaments.

"We are very excited about this year's schedule," said FAU head coach Fernanda Nelson. "Our nonconference schedule is challenging and that will prepare us to play on a high level once conference play starts."

FAU will welcome crosstown foe Lynn for an exhibition on Saturday, Aug. 24 before hosting the first official event on Abessino Court at FAU Arena on Friday, Aug. 30 and Saturday, Aug. 31, the FAU Invitational. Niagara, Stetson and Grambling also will take part in the event.

The Owls will travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the TCU Invitational on Sept. 6 and 7 where they will face 2018 NCAA Tournament teams Florida State and Colorado State in addition to the host Horned Frogs, before returning home for the Owls Classic on Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14. Southern Utah, Boston College and Bethune-Cookman will round out the rest of the field.

FAU will travel to Orlando for the Sunshine State Classic on Sept. 20 and 21, facing off against Miami, plus two more NCAA Tournament teams from last season, Florida Gulf Coast and the host UCF Knights.

Conference USA play begins at home against rival FIU on Friday, Sept. 27. Perennial C-USA powerhouse WKU comes to town on Friday, Oct. 11, highlighting the home slate.

The 2019 C-USA Volleyball Tournament will be held in Houston from Friday, Nov. 22 to Sunday, Nov. 24 and will be hosted by Rice.

"(The schedule) is going to take consistency from our team to be able to compete and win, especially against the ranked opponents," said Nelson.
