Florida Atlantic University senior tight end Harrison Bryant was named to the John Mackey Preseason Watch List, as announced by the Friends of John Mackey on Friday.
Bryant is just returning from Conference USA Media Days, where the Georgia native was honored as a Preseason All-Conference selection.
Bryant is expected to return and hold down his role as the Owls' starting tight end for the third consecutive season. Bryant started each of the team's 12 games a year ago and finished his junior campaign with the second most receiving yards and the second most receiving touchdowns on the team. The Georgia native uses his size to provide protection, and consistent hands to make him a quarterback favorite. He has played in 35 games over the last three seasons, improving his production in each. Bryant has a career total of 1,133 yards receiving and nine scores.
The John Mackey Award is given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end. The award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee and the 2019 Mackey Award recipient will be announced on Dec. 11, 2019 and then presented live on Dec. 12, 2019 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU. All future announcements can be found at www.johnmackeyaward.com.
