BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic football senior WR Kelby Valsin is an Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week honorable mention selectee following a career day against Texas Southern, announced by the organization on Tuesday.
In the Owls' (4-1) 66-10 victory over the Tigers, Valsin, a preseason honoree for the annual Tyler Rose honor that is bestowed to the top collegiate football player in the state of Texas, needed just one half to set his career high with 126 receiving yards to go with three touchdowns. All three of his scores came in the second quarter to give Florida Atlantic a program-record 49 points at halftime. The 66 points are the second highest scoring game while the 56-point margin of victory is the largest in team history.
Over the past two games, the Arlington, Texas native has totaled 249 receiving yards. He currently leads the Owls with 40 catches, 512 yards, and five touchdown receptions, while ranking No. 4, No. 10, and No. 11, respectively, nationally in each of those categories.
