BOCA RATON, Fla. – Three more games remain on the 10-day road trip for No. 24 Florida Atlantic University baseball. The Owls are 2-2 with a rainout thus far, and end the voyage west with three against Conference USA foe UTSA this weekend in San Antonio.
Owls' Midweek in Review
The Owls (32-16, 17-7 C-USA) were only able to complete one of the two midweek games near Houston, falling in the ninth to Sam Houston State Tuesday, 12-11, before seeing the Wednesday night matchup with the University of Houston canceled due to rain. Despite the loss to SHSU, FAU still sits at No. 35 in the RPI ratings heading into the weekend set.
Owls' Weekend in Preview
A lot is still up for grabs in the upcoming C-USA Championship, with only Southern Miss and FAU clinching spots so far. UTSA (23-25, 10-13 C-USA) is part a muddled group in the middle of the conference pack, with seven teams separated by three games in the loss column (from fourth place all the way to 10th). The Roadrunners are currently eighth. Last weekend, they split the league series with Marshall before seeing the third game canceled, and won their midweek over Incarnate Word, 6-4. Ryan Stacy leads five UTSA hitters at .333 or better, at .368, third-best in C-USA. Bryan Arias has a team-high eight home runs, along with 34 RBI, while Bryan Sturges is the leading run producer with 40.
