Owls Suffer a Pair of Losses at FSU Beach Bash

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team lost both of its matches at the FSU Beach Bash on Friday. The Sandy Owls are now 11-10 on the year.

Match 1 vs. #3 Florida State
Sam Gott and Julia Lewkowicz were swept on court five. Savannah Pesante and Kaila Dorish recovered from a set one loss at no. 4 to force a third, but they were defeated 15-8 in the final frame to put the Seminoles up 2-0. Nicole Grant and Amanda Silva fell in straight sets at no. 2 to clinch the match for FSU. Jillienne Cangelosi and Megan Mcgrath lost by matching 21-18 scores on court two. Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris dropped the first set at no. 1, 21-12. They won the second set 21-16 to send the match to the third, where they won 15-12. Carly Scarbrough and Mazarine Tsuji suffered a 21-15, 21-18 loss on the exhibition court.

Match 2 vs. #17 Georgia State
Lewkowicz and Gott lost the first set on court five, but was able to take the second set 21-14, forcing a third, but the GSU duo won 15-12, giving the match's first point to the Panthers. Dorish and Pesante won set one at no. 4, but couldn't withstand a GSU rally, losing the third set 15-12. Cangelosi and McGrath came up just short in both sets at no. 3, 24-22, 21-19. On court two, Grant and Silva got swept, 21-18, 21-18. Brok and Morris sent court one to three sets, but lost the final frame 15-11. Bailey Myott and Lily Richman endured a pair of narrow losses on the exhibition court, 21-18, 21-19.
