GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University track and field team concluded the regular season with a successful showing at the Tom Jones Invitational hosted by the University of Florida on Friday and Saturday in Gainesville, Florida. A top-10 program time was achieved and two new personal records were set.
"This weekend's highlight for us was Anne-Catherine's performance in the 400 meter hurdles. Anca stared adversity straight in the face and overcame it. She missed this year's indoor season, but she is coming back with a vengeance. We had some other solid performances Friday and Saturday, but her return to form is definitely a highlight."
- Renee Shaw set a new personal record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.32 for 18th place. That time is the eighth best in FAU history. Kennedie Reese completed the 100 meter hurdles in 15.28 for 28th place
- Anne-Catherine Wasser raced to a ninth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.09. Kailiece Harris also raced in the event and had a 18th place showing with a time of 1:07.18
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Wasser, Searra Woods, Megan Giovanneillo and Brooke Butterfield finished sixth with a time of 3:59.43
- Cara Simpson had a 11.60 meter jump in the triple jump for 15th place
- Mikaela Jonsson crossed the finish line in 2:15.95 in the 800 meter run for 16th place. She was followed closely by Giovanniello who finished in 2:17.04 for 17th place. Butterfield wasn't far behind, registering a 2:17.49 time for 19th place
- Liz Wellman ran the 1500 meter in 4:46.52 for 18th place
- Jamesha Moorer ran in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. In the 100, Moorer finished in 12.10 for 34th place. In the 200, she completed the event in 24.72 for 39th place. Jada James also ran the 200 and finished in a personal best time of 25.69 for 53rd place
- Roshelle Francois completed the 400 meter dash in 57.90 for 31st place. Woods also ran the 400 with a 33rd place showing in 58.39
The Owls will head into the postseason next. The Conference USA Outdoor Championship will be held May 9-12 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
