BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball team (19-27, 6-14 C-USA) celebrated a walk-off victory in game two of their doubleheader against Charlotte (15-31, 6-13 C-USA) on Senior Day Saturday. FAU fell to the 49ers in the first game, 5-2, but bounced back in the second contest following an RBI single by senior
Mia Olson in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Owls would walk away with a 5-4 victory in the game.
Head coach Joan Joyce on tonight's performance
"It was a pretty good night," said Joyce. "The seniors did pretty well, and we had some pretty nice hits. We did a lot of things that were good in the first game, but we probably could have been a little better, as we had opportunities where we could have gotten that game tied. I think if we got that game tied, we would have won it, but as it turned on, we couldn't get the runs early in the game. In the second game, we came out and played well, but just had that one mistake."
Joyce on the Owls' performance at the plate
"Mia [Olson] came up big in the second game and Fayth [Davis] has been an animal hitting that ball."
