The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team improved to 4-4 on the season with a 4-3 victory over Conference USA opponent Charlotte, which was on an six-match win streak prior to Wednesday.

"Charlotte was such a tough team with great players," said March Cava, FAU's head coach. "Today's victory came down to the doubles point. Yesterday's practice was focused on several key double strategies and the Owls had no hesitation using them. I'm very proud of these girls."

The Owls captured the doubles point for the second time this season and that point proved to be pivotal in the match's outcome
Jemi Aguilar / Natalia Boltinskaya were victorious (7-5) on court No. 1 while May Kimhi / Martina Kudelova captured court No. 2 (6-1)
With the one-point lead, FAU took to the singles courts with Martina Kudelova putting the next point on the board on court No. 1 with a straight set 6-3, 6-3 win
May Kimhi walked off court No. 5 just minutes later with a 6-4, 6-1 win and a 3-0 FAU lead
The fourth and deciding point would not come in the next three matches as courts No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 each fell to the 49ers, tying the contest at three
For the second consecutive match, teammates gathered around court No. 3 where Natalie Kallmunzerova needed three sets to secure a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 win and the match for the Owls

The Owls will play host to VCU on Saturday, March 9 at 9 a.m. The men's team will follow hosting George Washington at 12:30, for a women's/men's double header. Sunday's match will featured the men's team versus VCU at 10 a.m. On Monday, March 11, the women's tennis team will return to the court to play host to Syracuse at 8:30 a.m. A men's match will follow featuring FAU and UNC Asheville, and the FAU women will retake the court versus Boston University at 2:30 p.m. FAU women then will play host to Liberty at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12.
