Rivera, Pesante and Dorish Awarded as Players of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. –The Florida Atlantic University athletic department has recognized baseball's Eric Rivera and the beach volleyball pair of Savannah Pesante and Kaila Dorish as student-athletes of the week.
Rivera has come alive offensively over his last five games, as he has hit over .500 (11-for-22) and has posted two four-hit games, one run in each outing and a .864 slugging percentage to lead the squad. The junior had two home runs against UNF on Wednesday and added another in the first of three games against Monmouth over the weekend. Rivera scored in all but one game in the leadoff spot, including twice in Friday's win and three more times in the finale finish to sweep Monmouth. The West Park, Florida native has raised his season average to .340 and has maintained a perfect fielding percentage in center field over the first three weeks of play.
Pesante and Dorish went 4-0 at the Burrow Beach Bash over the weekend to elevate their season record to 8-0. The duo started out Friday with a sweep over Avery Davis and Caroline Skaff of No. 10 South Carolina (21-15, 21-10) and later defeated No. 4 LSU's Taryn Kloth and Maddie Liogon in three sets. Saturday began with a dominating victory over UAB's Brittany Monroe and Emily Martinez (21-12, 21-8) and ended with a 25-15, 25-17 triumph against Payton Caffrey and Sara Putt of No. 5 Florida State. The duo has swept seven of its eight opponents this season and has helped the No. 17 Sandy Owls start out the season 6-2.
Rivera and FAU baseball will be back at FAU Baseball Stadium tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. to take on Appalachian State. There will be live stats available and the live stream can be accessed at fausports.tv. For tickets, call the FAU Ticket Office at 1-866-FAU-OWLS or visit the baseball ticketing page.
Beach volleyball will take a week off before traveling south to Miami for the FIU Invite. The Owls will be back at the FAU Beach Volleyball Complex on March 23 to take on North Alabama at noon and Tampa at 2 p.m. for the FAU Beach Bash. Admission to the tournament is free and live stats can be accessed here.
