BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team puts a 5-1 in-conference record on the line this weekend at home, hosting FIU for three at FAU Baseball Stadium
Owls' Midweek in Review
The Owls (16-9, 5-1 Conference USA) nearly caught up from a seven-run deficit to Miami on Wednesday, but couldn't cash in on a bases-loaded situation, and late Hurricane runs lengthened the spread. Still, in league play, the team has a home sweep and took two-of-three on the road last weekend at UAB. All told, it's a run of 13 wins in the Owls' last 16 games.
Owls' Weekend in Preview
FIU (11-14, 2-4 C-USA) has dropped four in a row, two midweek versus Florida Gulf Coast after two the weekend prior hosting WKU. Overall, the Panthers have lost seven of eight after a 10-7 start. Lorenzo Hampton, Jr. paces the hitters with a .329 average, while Austin Shenton leads the power numbers, five home runs and 22 RBI. The team's Friday night ace is Logan Allen, 3-1 so far this season with a 0.74 ERA (three earned runs in 36 2/3 innings) and 61 strikeouts to lead all C-USA pitchers.

Opponent History
Unsurprisingly, these border rivals have the longest series in FAU history, spanning all the way back to the program's first year (1981) and 113 total games. FAU holds a 64-49 all-time advantage, and in Coach McCormack's 10 years prior to now, it's 30-13. Last year, in the regular season series at FIU, the two teams split Friday and Saturday before a Sunday rainout. The squads then met up for the C-USA Championship opening game in Biloxi, with the Owls posting a 7-4 victory.
