BOCA RATON, Fla. – After 21 games and for the first time in the 2019 season, the Florida Atlantic university baseball team will leave the state of Florida, playing conference rival UAB this weekend in Birmingham, Alabama.
Owls' Midweek in Review
Tuesday night's scheduled road matchup against Florida Gulf Coast was called off due to rain in Fort Myers. So the Owls (14-7, 3-0 Conference USA) set out for Birmingham having played 17 home games, and all 21 contests so far this season, in the Sunshine State. The team hasn't left the state since last season's Conference USA Championship in late May, and not in the regular season since playing at Middle Tennessee, May 11-13.
Owls' Weekend in Preview
UAB (10-12, 0-3 C-USA) was swept on the road last weekend by WKU in Bowling Green, Kentucky, all in close affairs: 5-4, 6-5 and 5-3. Coupled with two midweek losses at home (13-5 to Auburn and 16-8 to Alabama A&M), the Blazers have now lost five in a row and nine of 10. Zack Davis is the team's top hitter at .392 (fourth best in the league), while Colton Schultz is at .349 with four home runs and 28 RBI, tied for the most in C-USA.

Opponent History
Last season in Boca Raton, UAB handed the Owls one of their two C-USA series losses of the season. FAU won the first game, 5-2, in a game pushed back to Saturday. In the second game of that day's doubleheader, the Blazers tied the series with an 8-2 win, and took the Sunday rubber match, 12-5. Still, it's a 10-7 FAU advantage all-time, including 4-2 edge in Birmingham.
