BOCA RATON, Fla. – The first three of what will eventually be a 12-game homestand for the Florida Atlantic University baseball team kicks off this weekend as the Owls host Monmouth for a series at FAU Baseball Stadium.
Owls' Midweek in Review
A midweek set at North Florida saw two roller-coaster finishes for the Owls (3-6), and now for five straight games, the tying run at the plate in the team's final at-bat. Tuesday night, a ninth-inning grand slam by
Pedro Pages brought the team within two, but a flyout with a runner on ended it. Wednesday, it was a one-run game when
Francisco Urbaez homered, again in the ninth, but two straight outs wrapped the series for UNF.
Owls' Weekend in Preview
Monmouth (1-5) lost their first five, recovering Sunday with an 8-5 win over East Carolina, who had taken the first two in the series. The Hawks were swept by Penn State on opening weekend. As a team, they have been outscored 32-13 and are hitting just .153, with only Zach Schild hitting better than .217 (at .273). He also has three of team's nine RBI and only home run.
