HOUSTON – The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team (5-21, 2-11 C-USA) dropped a 63-35 decision at Rice (22-3, 13-0 C-USA) on Saturday. FAU was led by freshman Juliette Gauthier who had 23 points in the game.

HOW IT WAS DECIDED

After a slow first half, FAU outscored Rice 27-24 in the second half. Juliette Gauthier scored the first seven points for the Owls in the third quarter and was able to put up 20 points in the second half alone

GAME NOTES

Gauthier finished with 23 points, 20 of which came in the second half. The freshman was 9-of-15 from the floor, 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 2-of-3 from the free throw line. It was the third time this season Gauthier has scored 20-plus points, which is the most on the team
Abby Voss was the second highest scorer for the Owls with five points. She also had four rebounds
Glenisha Harkless was the Owls' leading assist earner with three in the contest
FAU's defense held Rice three points below its season average which is 66.2 points per game
