Box Score 2 vs. IU
Â
BOCA RATON, Fla. -Â The Florida Atlantic University softball team split its two games on the second day of the First Pitch Classic to begin in the season 2-2. Freshman
Skylar Whitty (1-0) made her first career start for the Owls and pitched a complete game shutout to elevate the Owls to a 1-0 victory over Virginia. In game two, fielding errors were too much for the Owls to bare, falling to Indiana 4-1.
Â
Quotable
"Even in the second game, pitching did a good job," said Head Coach
Joan Joyce. "We made a couple of mistakes in the second game that allowed them to win. The thing I was the most worried about going into the season was my pitching, but they have done a really good job so far."

In the top of the third, IU's Bella Norton singled to left field, giving the Hoosiers a 2-1 advantage. The Owls were unable to get anything else done offensively, leaving three runners stranded in the bottom of the fifth and going three up, three down in the bottom of the seventh. Indiana would add two more runs on errors to elevate to a 4-1 victory. Olson was credited with the loss.
