BOCA RATON, Fla. – For nearly two months, the Florida Atlantic University football team (9-3, 7-1 Conference USA) has carried themselves as if they were in the playoffs with the hashtag #1-0isallthatmatters. This mentality was adopted to keep the Owls focused upon the team's goal, a Conference USA Championship.
That mentality allowed the Owls – who were not in control of their destiny – to avoid distractions and take care of business both on and off the field. The team will now prepare to host the C-USA title game versus UAB (9-3, 6-2 C-USA), this Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
The Owls have adopted the ability to not watch the standings, not watch the league results, not pay attention to "Rat Poison" and remain focused upon schoolwork and the practice field. This week, that focus has to be on point. FAU began reading and exam week and began prep for the championship game. One reprieve the team received, without the hard stop related to class schedules, was a later start each morning. But the attention to detail remains the same. The mantra remains the same #1-0isallthatmaters.

"One of his sayings was to believe is to be strong," Jensen said. "And I think that we're able to really bring that to a lot of the people that I work with, to create strength and stability between the temples, so to speak. I think, when you're able to take some aspects of [Schnellenberger's] coaching style - that grit that he brings to the table, that old-school coaching style, hard work always pays off, that kind of thing - you're going to be able to find success in anything you do."
