BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University Owls are one week removed from capturing the 2019 Conference USA crown and the last seven days have been a whirlwind for the Owls.
The celebration continued Sunday with the announcement that FAU would participate in the 2019 Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl. On Tuesday, the Conference USA postseason awards were announced where the Owls were represented on both the freshman and the all-conference teams. Wednesday, senior tight end Harrison Bryant was announced as the 2019 John Mackey Award winner. Thursday, FAU introduced newly-hired head football coach Willie Taggart, and on that same day, the Owls went back to work. Off the field, players completed their fall semester finals and five Owls received their diplomas.

Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Preview
Interim Head Coach Glenn Spencer On the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl and balancing work and enjoying the experience:
"It's a tremendous bowl. They have some nice things planned. We already had a bowl function (Thursday). It goes back to working and enjoying each other, and it's a reward. They busted their tail and they earned this. Me and the staff have got to do a good job of balancing that. A lot of people do it different ways, and I'm just trying to find a balance of what I've been used to, going to the bowl games I've been.
On practicing hard and still having fun:
"It's still practice. Nobody really enjoys practice. Football practice isn't fun all the time. They've still got to punch the clock when they go out there, and we're developing young players too. There's preparation time, and there's some time allotted also to play younger kids and see them play in situations on the field. They've been doing scout work all year, so you throw in some of that too. But I told the coaches, enjoy yourself, cut up with them a little bit. Hold them to accountability … you still have to have structure. They'll respond to that. Until we play the game, you're not sure, but I think this gives us the best chance to play well and reward them for a tremendous season."
