11/9/2019 9:22:00 AM | Men's Soccer
Full Bracket
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team (7-7-1, 3-4) will square off against Kentucky (11-3-3, 4-2-1) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals at the 2019 Conference USA Men's Soccer Championships. FAU earned its first trip to the C-USA tournament after knocking off Old Dominion in overtime last night with Jose Alastuey's game-winning goal. The Owls will head to Norfolk, Virginia, as Old Dominion will be hosting this year's tournament.
The match against the No. 4 seed Kentucky Wildcats will commence tournament play on Wednesday with all games being streamed on ESPN+. FAU is riding on a two-game winning streak and looks to keep that momentum rolling into postseason play.
Kentucky, who was ranked No. 21 at the time, hosted the Owls in the Conference USA matchup in mid-September, shutting out the Owls 3-0 in Lexington. In the match, the Owls trailed 1-0 going into the half, while outshooting the Wildcats, 3-2. The Owls set up several opportunities for the equalizing goal in the second half, but Kentucky would pull away with goals scored in the 73rd and 87th minute to seal the deal.
More details about the matchup will come in the days leading up to first touch. For complete coverage of FAU men's soccer during postseason play, follow us on Twitter (@FAUMensSoccer), Instagram (@FAUMensSoccer_) and Facebook (FAU Men's Soccer).
