BOCA RATON, Fla.Â
– The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swimming & diving team will take part in the annual Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason University this weekend. This is the Owls fourth consecutive year taking part in the invite, which will be held at Jim McKay Natatorium from Thursday through Saturday.

- Prelims (10 a.m.): 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, Time Trials
- Finals (6 p.m.): 200 Free Relay, 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free
- Diving (1 p.m.): Women's 3M and Men's 1M (prelims and finals)

- Prelims (10 a.m.): 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, Time Trails

The women's team finished third (681 points) for the second consecutive year at the invitational last season. UNCW led the way in first (731 points), while Drexel followed in second (722 points).
Spence Atkins racked up three first-place finishes last year, each coming in the 500 free (4:39.35), 1650 free (16:34.47) and 200 fly (1:51.16), while also claiming second in the 200 free (1:51.58).
Danica Garbett had a memorable weekend, taking first in the 200 IM (2:03.15) and 400 IM (4:22.64) with lifetime best times.
Fatimah Westbrook claimed second in the 100 breast (1:03.24) and on the boards,
Malvina Catalano swept the 1- and 3-meter dive with first-place scores.

On the men's side, the team finished in fifth place (537 points), just three behind fourth-place finisher Seton Hall.
Josh Fountain broke the then freshman record in the 160 free (15:31.55), while claiming first in the event, as well as another first in the 500 free (4:29.80).
Will Smith captured second in the 1650 free (15:38.45) and third in the 500 free (4:32.70).
Connor Smoak made the proverbial medal stand in the 200 free with a third place time (1:41.01). In diving,
Logan Downey swept on both boards, with an NCAA Zones qualifying score in the 1-meter (319.70).

The Owls posted their best scores over Princeton in their 11th consecutive dual meet held at the beginning of November. The women captured six first-place finishes, including two from
Spence Atkins who took first in the 1000 free (10:21.78) and 500 free (5:06.47) and
Abby Marshall in the 100 back (56.23) and 200 back (2:03.70).
Fatimah Westbrook also claimed first in the 100 breast (1:04.48) for the second straight week.
Alicia Mora also broke the FAU school and freshman record in the 1-meter, finishing in first place with a score of 300.00.

The men's team claimed five first place titles.
Will Smith got the day started with an incredible finish in the 1000 free. (9:25.37), claiming the win in 0.01 seconds.
Rateb Hussein tied a FAU freshman record in the 100 fly (49.23) for a first place title.
Josh Fountain tallied another first place finish in a distance race, this time in the 500 free (4:34.84), which he won by inches.
Logan Downey swept on both boards for the second straight week, scoring an NCAA Zones qualifying score in the 1-meter (308.92). Hussein and Downey obtained Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.

The Owls will cap off 2019 with the annual FAU Fun Invitational on Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. A handful of teams taking part in winter training in Florida will be competing.
