BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's soccer's attempt to bring home two Conference USA trophies – the postseason version in addition to the regular season crown earned on Friday night – begins in the first game of the 2019 C-USA Championship in Denton, Texas on Wednesday, against the only team they suffered a league loss against during this title-winning campaign.
The Owls (14-3-1, 8-1-1 C-USA) literally kick off the tournament, against No. 8 seed Louisiana Tech (13-4-2, 5-4-1 C-USA), in the opening quarterfinal round matchup at 12:30 p.m. Eastern. About a month ago (on Oct. 4 in Ruston, Louisiana), the Lady Techsters recorded the game's only score, a golden goal with 1:35 left to go in the first overtime, to give both teams a conference record of 2-1-0. In the time since, the Owls nearly ran the table, capping off the season with a 6-0-1 league mark, with the win over FIU on Friday night earning the team the outright C-USA regular season title and this No. 1 seed.
