Four Owls Tabbed to All-C-USA Team

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team (7-7-1, 3-4-0) collected four All-Conference USA nods, as announced by the league on Tuesday, the eve before the 2019 C-USA Championship. Alonso Coello Camarero was named to the First Team, Ivan Mykhailenko and Alex Alexis were Second Team selections and Tom Abrahamsson rounded out the list with Third Team and All-Freshman Team honors.

Four players being named to the All-Conference Team is the most for FAU since joining C-USA in 2013, as well as the most since 2007 when the Owls were members of the Atlantic Soccer Conference. While Coello Camarero is a second-time All-Conference selection, the other three are first time honorees.

Alonso Coello Camarero
Coello Camarero is the first Owl in the program's days of belonging in C-USA to make the First Team. He is also one of two underclassmen receive the honor. As the Owls' leading midfielder, Coello Camarero started in all 14 matches he appeared in, playing five in full and tallying the second most minutes on the team despite missing the last game (1,130). As the Owls have endured one of the toughest schedules, Coello Camarero has recorded an assist and has been crucial in the Owls' ability to compete with some of the best teams in the league and country. The sophomore, who was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team, has played solid as a defender and playmaker to pick up where he left off from last season.

Ivan Mykhailenko
Mykhailenko has been lethal in the Owls' offensive efforts this season. The forward has been the Owls' leader in goals (seven) and points (17) since the first game of the season. He also sits in second in goals and sixth in points in C-USA. Mykhailenko has cashed in on three game-winners this season, which came against No. 17 James Madison, No. 15 Marshall and Florida Gulf Coast. The Kyiv, Ukraine native was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week after a five-point night (two goals and one assist) against FGCU. Mykhailenko's statistics are at the top of the conference with one less game played due to cancellation.

Alex Alexis
Alexis has had quite a memorable senior season. The midfielder leads the team in assists (seven), which is the sixth most in a single season at FAU. His 0.54 assists per game is ranked second in C-USA and No. 11 in the nation. As one of the fastest players in the country, Alexis has set up goals versus FIU, No. 11 UCF, No. 9 Charlotte and a game-winner at UAB. He also came up with a goal of his own last Friday night against Old Dominion to help secure the Owls a C-USA Tournament spot.

Tom Abrahamsson
In his first collegiate season, Abrahamsson has been a solid contributor on both sides of the ball. The freshman has started in each of the 14 games he has appeared in, playing five matches without a sub and ranking second on the team in minutes played (1,089). Abrahamson scored his first goal against FIU and tallied an assist versus FGCU. The Goeta, Sweden native has also played multiple positions this past season.

The Owls are looking to keep the momentum rolling as they begin C-USA Tournament play tomorrow. They are set to face off against fourth-seeded Kentucky in the quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. at ODU Soccer Complex in Norfolk, Virginia. The match can be viewed on ESPN+.
