BOCA RATON, Fla. The Florida Atlantic University football team (7-3, 5-1 Conference USA) works each week to go 1-0. This week, there is no game, but the Owls, who will work on fundamentals, player development and getting healthy, received news that tight end John Raine has received positive waiver news. News that allows Raine to play the 2020 season.
Â
Raine, who leads all FAU receivers with five touchdowns, has played in every game the last two seasons and a total of 38 career games since 2016. This season Raine has recorded 26 receptions for 239 yards. His true freshman season, 2016, he suffered a broken ankle four games in. Raine played in 12 games in both 2017 and 2018 and has seen action in every game thus far in 2019. He scored his first collegiate touchdown versus Charlotte, the last game of 2018 and his second versus Ohio State to open the 2019 season.

Kiffin Korner
Kiffin on Last Saturday's Game
"I haven't talked to you guys since reviewing the game. [We] really played well in a lot of areas in the game. Probably the negative was the red zone offense, not finishing drives. It could have been a lot more lopsided. You can tell with the total yards, almost 600 yards, we moved the ball a lot, but too many times we got stopped down there once and got a couple of field goals. Other than that, [it was] good to get to 3-0 in the series. Someone said a 100-point difference in the series. That is neat for our fans, for our players and should help in recruiting."
 On the Bye Week
"…we don't treat it any different. Practice the same. Some of our coaches are out recruiting. We will use the weekend as actual recruiting official visits to give us a start with that with the major signing day and the potential of losing one with a championship game."
 On John Raine
"I don't know if I said this last week or not but he (John Raine) got a year back and that is awesome, to come back and be the guy, next year."
