BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University head baseball coach John McCormack's continued relationship with USA Baseball will include being a part of a free Community Coaches Clinic for the organization on Thursday at Marlins Park in Miami.
Â
McCormack has had a long history with USA Baseball, including as part of the 13U Athlete Development Program this summer in Cary, North Carolina. There, he was manager for the Stripes, one of the teams involved with the inaugural program. On Thursday, he will lead a session on "Coaching Perspective" as one of the day's featured speakers, beginning at 6:20 p.m.
Â
"USA Baseball is a fabulous organization that helps promote baseball at all levels," said McCormack. "I am glad to be a part of helping to educate and grow our game."
Â
The Owls are in the midst of fall preseason practice, which includes an exhibition this Saturday at the University of Miami. The spring season, and defense of the 2019 Conference USA regular season championship, is set to begin in mid-February. The 2020 campaign will mark McCormack's 12th season as head coach and 30th year overall with the program.
Â
"We are very excited at USA Baseball to partner with the Marlins and outstanding South Florida collegiate coaches to host a Community Coaches Clinic," said Andrew Bartman, USA Baseball's director of coaching development. "These events aim to provide coaching education to parents and coaches of all levels free of cost. In addition, they satisfy the in-person requirement for the free USA Baseball Coaching Certification program. Coach McCormack was my first phone call when seeking quality instructors for this event. Coach Mac is doing the community a great service by volunteering his time and expertise to grow the game!"
