About the Owls
- FAU will continue a three-game homestand on Saturday against WKU after going on the road to Old Dominion and Charlotte last week
- Through 18 games, Juliette Gauthier is the leading Owl scorer with 10.1 points per game. Myka Johnson Matthews is close behind, averaging 9.6 points. Abby Voss leads on the rebounding front, pulling down 6.3 boards per game. Glenisha Harkless has 39 assists on the season to lead the team
Last Time Out
- The Owls hosted Marshall on Thursday in a nail-bitter that came down to the wire
- After a close first quarter, the Thundering Herd took over in the second and hit their largest lead in the third quarter by going ahead 17 points
- The Owls didn't go away though. From there, FAU closed out the third quarter on an 8-0 run. Making two surges, the Owls came back to tie it twice. The second time came with 23 seconds on the clock when Johnson Matthews made an incredible steal and was fouled immediately. She stepped up and knocked down both free throws to knot the game at 67. The Herd closed out the game with a 5-0 run to pick up the win
- Johnson Matthews was the leading scorer for the Owls with 17 points. She also added a career high four steals, four rebounds and an assist. Gauthier also achieved double digits, scoring 14 along with seven rebounds and two steals
Series History
- Saturday will be the 20th meeting between FAU and WKU in series history. The two teams were both previous Sun Belt Conference members
- The Lady Toppers have 17 of those matchups, including seven in Boca Raton
- The Owls' two wins against WKU came at home and came in back-to-back seasons in 2011 and 2012
Scouting WKU
- The Lady Toppers secured a 94-82 win against FIU on Thursday. WKU secured the win with a 34-point third quarter and leading scorers Dee Givens (31 points) and Raneem Elgedawy (28 points)
- WKU features four players averaging double digits in scoring. Givens leads the way scoring 19.3 points per game. Elgedawy is close behind, averaging 15.6
- Elgedawy is the leading rebounder, pulling down 7.6 boards per game. Whitney Crouch has notched 53 assists this season to lead the team
