HOW IT WAS DECIDED
- Johnson Matthews scored the first FAU points of the game on a 3-pointer. The Monarchs went on a 10-0 run from there to take a 12-3 lead. A jumper from Glenisha Harkless halted the run. From there, Old Dominion outscored FAU 12-6.
- The second quarter was more of an even-scoring affair. The Owls put up 20 points in the period. FAU was aided by Ra'Kyra Gabriel who scored six points in the frame and Johnson Matthews and Jayla Adams who each added five
- The Owls opened the second half with a 9-0 run to cut the Monarachs' lead to single digits. During that stretch, Amber Gaston went up and got an offensive rebound and was fouled on the putback for an and-one opportunity. On the next possession, Gaston pulled down a contested rebound to feed it to Harkless who found Juliette Gauthier in transition to cut it to nine. Old Dominion quickly responded with a 16-0 run
- Both teams had runs in the fourth quarter. Old Dominion scored 10-straight and then FAU responded with eight-straight. Overall, the Monarchs outscored the Owls 19-11 in the fourth
- Johnson Matthews finished as the Owls leading scorer with 10 points in the contest, shooting 2-of-2 from range
- Harkless and Adams each had nine points in the game. Harkless also had four rebounds and three assists. Adams had four assists and three rebounds
- Gaston added seven points and five rebounds
- The Owls had their fewest turnovers of the season with 11 on the night. FAU forced 14 turnovers and scored 13 points off those miscues
FAU will continue on the road at Charlotte on Saturday. The Owls will square off against the 49ers at 4 p.m. inside Halton Arena.
