Shiver Named C-USA Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Junior Lachlan Shiver has been named the Conference USA Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. The award comes after the first week of the cross country season.
Shiver won the FAU Cross Country Invitational on Friday to open the season for the Owls through a steady rain at South Country Regional Park. He led FAU to a third place finish with his scorching time of 15:20.79, a new FAU record for the 5K and a new personal best.
The Coral Springs native finished nearly three seconds ahead of the next runner in the event. Showing off his summer training, Shiver knocked nearly a full minute off of his time in the same event on the same course from a season ago. He ran the course in 16:16.00 in 2017.
The men's cross country team will be back in action on September 22 at the Mountain Dew Cross Country Invitational hosted by the University of Florida. The women's team will run in the UCF Alumni Invitational on September 15.
